5 Cent Coffee
Established in 2006, 5 Cent Coffee has been playing their own brand of "neo-skiffle junkyard blues" all over Northern California and as far away as Japan for almost 20 years. The symbol of the post-modern jug band (according to wikipedia), 5 Cent Coffee has been a regular at the International Jug Band Festival and at the Cotati Accordion Festival.
Featuring six-time Accordion Babe Doodles LaRue on lead vocals, with Spitshine Delacroix on strings and Slick McCoy on bass.
5 Cent Coffee brings dirty accordion blues with howling vocals; sometimes a sad ukulele wails, sometimes your toe taps to a twang. Moody and candy-like, 5 Cent Coffee writes songs that cast you back into another time. Inspired by sounds as diverse as the clang and thump of old jug and skiffle bands and early 20th c. American music to Kurt Weill and Lotte Lenya to Tom Waits, Nick Cave, and the Tigerlillies.
